    Arkansas trashes Black List

    Advertisements

Arkansas voted on April 9 2010 to get rid of the black list which prevents graduates of most caribbean schools except the top 4. IAU was also listed as a disapproved school without reason. Glad to see that they finally got rid of the unreasonable and inaccurate listing.

yes this is a huge step forward for IMGs. Someone who meets passes the exact same USMLE, rotates throughout the US, and meets the same requirements as an AMG should be able to practice.

I cant wait for the day California adopts some kind of resolution like Texas did - a recent regulation from TMB says FMGs are eligible for full licensure in the state of texas once they are Board Certified; regardless of what medical school they attended. As of right now, IAU is not listed as a disapproved school by any state medical board, which is really good when it comes to licensure.

California List of "Dissaproved School" is Just Stupid

The "CA list" was created by Chronic Alcoholics
There is no logic to it once or ever, CA should review MDs based on performace, or based on ECFMG, this is why we have ECFMG in the first place

Also, if your school (IAU, AUA etc..) is not on the APPROVED list you are in the same boat, and will not get a license in CA. So, what is the point of having a dissaproved list in the first place ??

Typical Case of a M.D. that will not get licensed in CA because MD program is on the "CA List".
    1. Degrees: BSc & MPH
    2. MD from "CA Dissaproved List"
    3. USMLE Steps 1-3 scored over 220 per step
    4. ECFMG Certified
    5. Family Medicine Residency PGE 1-3 years
    6. Board Certified Family Physician , Licensed in 5 States

    Any logic to it ??
Many MDs that passed USMLEs in 90% and are MD, PhD with Board certifications in Speciality Areas & Yet can't get licensed in CA because of stupid politics.

CA should go back to the drawing board & evaluate MDs based on performace, similar to Arkansas, and the rest of the states.....This is why ECFMG is for !

    Cheers,

California dissaproved list should be banned

California Dissaproved List should be Banned !!!

*** It is similar to not giving an MD a license based on his MCAT score

After you pass all the main steps, of ECFMG certification & Postgraduate residency, and then finally board certifications, they judge you based on your medical school ?? Some are VERY good medical programs, and are WHO recognized with over 25 years of track record educating physicians.

What can we expect from Ca? Consider this...the state allows people who graduated from correspondence schools to practice law. Who knows if one of those same lawyers got involved in this policy.

CA Stupid "Approved & Dissaproved" lists

I know You can be a licensed lawyer in CA with online degree, but, if you are an IMG, better watch out, from the "Dissaproved List", even if you passed all your USMLEs, got your ECFMG, completed your rotations in teaching hospitals in the STATES, got great LOR, completed 3 years in PGE, and passed your board certification exams.....your are still not "good enough" what a joke....The CA policy must be reviewed & changed immediately before it leaks to the media

With increasing doctor shortages in the US and Canada one would want to think that states will probably be more accepting of Caribbean Medical Graduates.

Ca will one day change their list.Prob won't be any time soon but its very poorly constructed. The one thing supporting the use of the list is the adoption of it by several states. Now that many states have abandoned it,its losing its importance and is being looked at for what it is....a very incompetent way to regulate physicians.
Well, he's had it in for me ever since I "kinda" ran over his dog. Actually, replace "kinda" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."

California Biased Medical Board must change "evaluation" criteria

The role of evaluating IMGs is ECFMG role, NOT the state medical board.....the Medical Board or College role is to discipline the MDs, revoke a license, or to admit a license based on performance.....no where in the world does this happen.....The "CA list" is a bad, sad joke, based on politics nothing else....
