    What has changed?

    Advertisements

It's now been over a year since i transfered out of IAU. It was one of the best decisions of my life.

I came back hoping to see some new changes that would improve my opinion of the school, but after reading through several forums, I only see the same complaints I had.

Curiously, the only people who seem to support the school are relatively NEW members of valuemd. A tactic similar to this was used by the management while I was there. They created multiple accounts in hopes of boosting the popularity of the school by posing as regular users. Epic Fail

In regards to your NY accreditation - I was told the same thing. NY is coming... every deadline would come and pass, and the admin would have some excuse as to why they are not coming. One day, I actually called the NY board and asked. I was told that they had no intention of revisiting the school anytime soon.

The changes IAU was allegedly supposed to make were things like updating computers, updating the library, and of course actually having cadavers in the anatomy lab. The admin also said they were creating a new computer system so students would have access to their grades and other info. It was supposed to be rolled out and in use back in January of 2008.

IAU was allegedly breaking ground on the new campus in January of 2008 as well. The land they were going to use was said to be the giant field near the brewery. One day, a billboard popped up right there that said "future home of destiny university". There never was a sign for IAU. When I asked the admin about it, they said they were sharing the lot with Destiny University. IAU intends to be neighbors with another university?

I saw the blueprints... the lot is not big enough to accomodate 2 schools.

While I was there, we had 3 classrooms on the 3rd floor, no cadavers, no anatomy professor. The faculty consisted of several husbands/wives and cousins of the admin/owners. No student handbook was in writing. IAU would never put anything IN writing.

The people in the dallas office were always pleasant on the phone, despite my skepticism.

The faculty of IAU came from a failed school in the UK called St. Christophers. Find the BBC investigation if you want to know names and why. IAU was started and shares several characteristics. During the course of my time there, the president of IAU confirmed in person, that they had plans of starting a 3rd school. He adamantly denied any claim to it being medical related. I found reason to believe otherwise -

Greenheartmed.com - google it since it no longer works

It is not my intention to bash the school. I am only curious as to what IAU has done in the past year to improve their school. Please, give me a detailed reason as to why I should recomend your services to anyone I know. I am open for suggestions.

Hopefully, your detailed posting will better inform prospective students. IAU should categorically adress all of your concerns on this forum.

    Dear IAUmed,

I am glad to learn that you are doing well. Thanks for coming back to check up on us. We dont really have a whole lot of time to be constantly checking online forums or to create multiple accounts to rebutt negative comments. However we promise that any concerns from students will be addressed if directed in the appropriate channel.

NY State Board is expected to visit us in December of 2009. If we get approved, then students can do clinical rotations and residency in NY. Whether we get approved or not, please note that there is no restrictions for licensure.

IAU owns 10 acres of land in St.Lucia in the zoned region to construct a new campus. We do not share the land with Destiny or anyone else for that matter. We currently have around 30,000 sq.ft of leased building space to accomodate a maximum of 200 students at any given time. Plus we have all the required labs and cadavers and well qualified professors to teach anatomy. Prospective students are welcome to visit our campus and see for themselves the facilites that we offer.

During orientation, each entering student is given a handbook which outlines all policies and procedures "in writing". The only affiliation we have is with Texas A&M Commerce for our Pre-Med Program. I did not find any information relating to IAU, from the links that you posted.

If readers have any relevant questions, call me direct at 972-919-5158 or email me at [email protected]
