    Asymptomatic Tick bite

    Advertisements

Does a pregnant female require treatment/prophylaxis with amoxicillin for an asymptomatic tick (ixodes daminii) bite? there is no need for either serology or treatment in a non-pregnant person. Shouldn't it be the same for a pregnant female?

Pregnant females are given amoxicillin prophylaxis if there is H/O tick bite or tick discovered without bit without any rash or symptomtology, reason is to relieve anxiety.

In all other patients, rash or symptoms along with H/O tick bite are required in order to do serology testing, asyptomatic patients don't et sorology testing, asymtomatic patients with just H/O bite and positive serology don't get treatment.

i know this for sure, source is UW Q bank for pregnant patient Management and Kaplan book for the rest

    hope this helps
