    both.

I am reading both. My Kaplan book is 2006 not updated new ones.
I think that really depends on how much you can remember and understand.

Dont do both, that will take too long.

The Step Up Book has better organization, pictures, and is more fun to read. The details and information in Kaplan (i.e. from the mouth and mind of Conrad Fischer) is far more in depth but is painfully dry.

The simple fact is that both will work (get the 2009 notes for best results), but you should pick the one you LIKE TO READ. Combine your reading with First Aid and a qbank, and you will be more than prepared.

Personally, I like Kaplan. Kaplan did well for me on MCAT and Step 1. I personally would use Kaplan, but you need to sit down with both of them, next to each other. Read an important topic (HTN, Seizure, Hyponatremia). Compare one versus the other. Which did you like to read more? Which did you remember more from? Pick the one you like.

in short, either will work. Combine with FA and qbank. Do NOT do both

excellent advice above. Personally I liked step up due to the easier read. Both are long but step up has better high yield in my opinion for internal med. I used peds, ob/gyn kapaln and first aid for psych. For surg honestly I didnt use anything and just paid attn when I was doing Uworld surg questions. I did well on step 2 99 but worked my booty off with Uworld and MKSAP.

I felt that my internal med resource was the most important for step 2 because a majority of the test is IM. As stated by above post, key is finding one that you can read and not be bored. Step up will cover surg (ie next best step in Tx/Dx of gallstones) in most common diseases and will give you some preventative med (although some are not the most uptodate ie when to do paps)

    good luck
