need advice - how to get F1 visa?

    Advertisements

    Please help me with this.

I am an AUA student (American University of Antigua), it's a caribbean medschool with an office in New York, NY.

I'm going to do my clinical rotations in Chicago. The school is saying that they can't provide me with I-20 for F1 visa, they can only write me a letter saying that I'm a student at their school, so I can get a B1 visa. My school says that they "are not eligible to issue I-20 form".

I have two children (10 and 11 y/o) who I HAVE TO TAKE WITH ME, and they have to start school in US while I'm doing my rotations. If I have F1 visa, then bringing them under F2 visa is not going to be a problem.

As I understand, if I'm doing clinical rotations, I'm a full time student, then they HAVE TO issue I-20. Am I wrong?

I'm very desperate. Please give me an advice.

you are only eligible for the B1 visa for clinicals, since your school is based outside of the US (doesn't matter that they have an office in NYC), you CANNOT be issued an F1....I believe your children can come in under the B2 visa, but I am not completely sure on this one since I don't have kids. But, bottom line, you will NOT get an F1, period.

You can apply for Kaplan Step 1 and Step 2 CK course and they can provide you with the I20.You can stay as a student and do clinical at the same time.
