    well

Well certainly H1 will be more difficult than J1 to obtain for fellowships, however the hope is that you would start residency on H1, obtain green card within 3 yrs before fellowship starts, and then have no visa issues for fellowship placement.

    j1 or h1

hi, there is a big difference if you are planning on staying in the us later, after your residency or fellwoship
j1 is easy to get but after your residency or fellowship you are required to go back to your country for 2 years or you can start a least a year in advance looking for a waiver, meaning securing a job in an underserved area in the us and you will be waived for the 2 years, almost all the states are considered understate, but some are much easier on the paper level
h1 is harder to get, but this one is an open door to the greencard, if it's what you looking for, you need to have step3 in order to get an h1,if you haver choice go for the h1 no question about it
    hope it was helpful

    h1

You can apply for GC as soon as you get the H1B, but it takes a long time! Sorry, I don't know further details.
