    work permit and residency

    Advertisements

I have a question concerning the legal status when applying for a residency:

I married a US citizen recently and filed for adjustment of status. Technically I can apply for a job once I get my work permit right? But the question is - will residency programs consider my application without me having the green card in hand? Because the attorney told us that the waiting period is between 15 and 18 months now.

Has anyone on this forum been in a situation like that?

    Thanks.

As long as you get your EAD in time, I don't think you will have a problem. The best answer I can give is to consult an immigration lawyer. Check ur PM; I've sent u a link to another website that deals more specifically with immigration issues for physicians.

Thanks guys, your input is much appreciated.

I just needed some reassurance since all the waiting is making me a little anxious and raises a lot of questions in my head
