There are posts by you stating that you did not believe the admission staff at IAU. Now you are accusing others of trolling. What happened? Did they con you to go to IAU?

Why are you posting the same message twice?

I'll be attending USESOM. My initial assessment of IAU was negative because of the NY approval situation. However, I've seen their administrator on here clear it up as best as he can. I still think they shouldn't mention NY on their homepage until it goes through but that's their prerogative.

However, some of the nitpicking and outright hostility by you and others isn't helpful to prospective students because it's simply disruptive. If they're lying about their USMLE Step 1 pass rate, then please provide us with that information. Similarly, if you think they will shut down in a few years or are lying about other facets of their program, give us some solid evidence to go with it. I'm interested in facts and I would love to see it and so would many others.

Every school started out as a joke, AUA started in a rented building in the far side of Antigua with 40 students and it took them a few years to secure investment from KMC before they really took off. Look at Windsor, they've got a new campus but their clinical rotations and basic sciences are a disaster. AUA for all it's money also has an abysmal clinical program. If this school can work with students and provide them green rotations, then it's smaller size may actually be a strong point. I don't see it nearly as shaky as some of the older schools like St. James.

As for the duplicate posts, VMD is timing out on me so it went through twice.

hey guys, i am just curious that among AUA,IAU and SJSM (Saint James school of medicine),
which schools are better off to attend/go?
I believe AUA is bigger and more established.
    How about IAU vs SJSM?
    Please inform me with it
    Thanks

I am currently in IAU; here are some facts as of August 15, 2011:
    1) This school is all about competition; you are told by the DEAN (Dr. M) that 1/3 of you will fail 1st semester; if you want to go to a school where you pass based on how social you are and fast you can get the NBME from upper classmen, this is the perfect school to go to (very sad)
    2) 2 Professors are leaving which is an average per semester here; Physiology class can be taught better by some students here; Professor can't teach but can read off slides; and also, don't ask to see him during office hours, apparently he's only available 9-5 (during classes)
    3) This school is not that whole building (it's just 4 rooms on the top floor)
    4) Try the tuna bageutte at the Reef and definitely go to Delirious for the parties in Castries and Tequila Joes for food
    5) Go down the street to Spartan, apply, and settle there

WOW look at how unprofessional the "Admissions Director" is on the forum, this is the same arrogance that is echoed throughout the IAU administration. They think they are the pooh pooh, and don't care about anybody else......Including STUDENTS!!!

I just wanted to drop a line. I was active on Valuemd back a year ago, but have been way to busy the past year. I am in my 4th semester at IAU.
I have seen this school change drastically since my 1st semester one year ago. My 1st semester here there were crazy stories about people cheating and having the NBME exams. I believed this because I heard it was an issue from some of my friends at other schools as well. The school did a good job and failed those that needed to repeat the semester regardless, the next semester they changed the percentage of the mini exams and made them HARD and worth much more of the grade percentage! Now the school has taken it to the next step, They have fired all the professors that just weren't cutting it and hired a pretty amazing staff and a new dean that is going to help the school tie up the issues with the NY approval. The school is definitely on it's way up!! Now the NBME exams are worth less then the minis, and "apparently the shelf exams are new. There is talk about the school going to a 5 semester curriculum but that is still not final. If you want to come to IAU, I think it was a good choice for me and the price is perfect! Lastly, The commissioner on the island named, IAU as the best Medical School in St. Lucia, The other schools here are were the IAU fail outs go.

Please don't advice people to go to this school. Your opinions are biased because you attend the school.

No offense but passing the USMLE for any step depends on the student NOT the school. Just my personal experience from going to a Caribbean school.
