Semmelweis Medical School .. Guys , Please help!

    Advertisements

Ok , so to start off here's a little about me : Im 16 (17 in January) , was born in Budapest but have lived in Ireland for the past 11 years, I am currently doing my LEaving Certificate and I want to apply to Semmelweis for Fall 2012 for dentistry.

First off, to apply for the english program, do I have todo my leaving certificate in Chemistry? Because Im only able to to do it in Bio & Physics in my school ( both at higher level) .. I know Chemistry comes up in the entrance exam , but do you think i'll be able to just get someone to tutor me in what I need for the exam in Chemistry? or do I need a leaving certificate? ... also, if I can get a tutor , would 8 months be enough time to learn all the stuff for the entrance exam?..

My second question is , I am also applying for the hungarian program, because I think I could qualify for a grant because my nationality is hungarian.. Does anyone know what I need to do to apply to the hungarian course?

    Thanks a million guys

Oh , and also , I will be 17 in January '12 .. will my age be a problem?

    Hey mynameisbeatrix,

You'll need chemistry for the entrance exam. You should take it up. Obviously you'll also need chemistry for Dentistry because the university expects that everyone will be at a satisfactory level in chem so they don't really start at a basic level. It's great that you're already doing Bio and Phys. You'll need a good foundation in them, especially particle/modern physics. 8 months is a very short time, and taking up an extra subject will be very stressful. You should take it up and put energy into it but don't let it affect your other subjects too much. Good luck

    Hi,
Being of Hungarian origin has solved a lot, if not all of your problems. It has made a lot of things easier for you. Having this in mind, I'd highly recommend you visit the school by yourself to ask these questions at the international secretariat. While there, you can also tour the school and see if it's suits your need. Good luck!

    Hi Beatrix!
I saw your post on this site. I'm also applying for the Hungarian language course to start next September. I was born here in Europe but spent my entire life in the US, so of course my written language skills are way better in English
Its been of a bureaucratic nightmare trying to figure out what I need to do/take/prepare in order to apply for the Hungarian language course. My parents didn't go to school in Hungary, so they really aren't sure. Do you know what we need to do? And how to go about getting it done?
I'm so excited I found someone else who's in kind of a similar situation as myself.
Valuemd wouldn't let me write you a PM because I just joined the site.
