Language Requirements for Hungary medical school

    Advertisements

Hi. I am a Canadian thinking of going applying Debrecen. From what I've gathered from the internet, I know that the program can be taught in English. But my concern is that I cannot speak any Hungarian. Would that be a problem for me if i want to study medicine at Hungary?

No it won't. Schools in Hungary teach their students Hungarian in the first years since in the the clinicals you will have to speak Hungarian. For more information check the Hungary forum in the European section here on the board. Btw. as someone who has lived and studied a while in Hungary I advice you on rethink your plan going to Debrecen. Budapest, Pecs and Szeged are way better choices.

    Good luck!

But really why do you want to go Hungary? They will give EU diplomas and Romanian schools give EU diplomas as well.
and Romanian schools have English program for internationals. Specifically i am a student from Constanta and i see a lot of Canadians coming here each year..
You might check www(dot)medschoolconstanta(dot)com. It's not an official site but an Agent site but surely will be a great help to you cuz university is unable to give admissions in Romania.
    Good luck

    Hi,
the education is in English, you will only need to learn basic Hungarian in order to be able to communicate with patients.

Because Hungarian schools, on aggregate, have a better international reputation than Romanian schools, on aggregate. That's why.

As a prospective student myself, my understanding is that the courses are taught in english. Students enrolled in the english medical programmes are also taught basic hungarian language which will be very useful during the clinical years
