I'm wondering where to live in Budapest and I need advice.

    Hello all,

Coming from Canada with my girl friend, I'll possibly be enrolling at Semmelweis by September 2011, I just need some advice on which parts of the city (district) would be the most convenient to live in while attending Semmelweis university.

Is it in my best interest to live closer to the main campus or to live closer to the city center? Also how is the general area around Semmelweis university in terms of safety and ease of access to amenities?

Ps. Which districts do most international students live in while attending school?

thanks guys and girls, any advice helps.

My advice is avoid the 8th district. I live with some friends in the 16th district which is nice, but it is quite far from the university. Hope this helps.

Hi . Semmelweis university has lots of departments which are scattered in Budapest . And as a medicine student you must be able to transport easily to every single department from your home . The most important point is that : Almost all of the departments are located near the blue line metro ( Metro 3) like Klinikák and Nagyvárad tér. So the best choice for you is a house near one of the blue metro stations. It is 7 months that I'm in Hungary and I'm living somewhere near nyugati pályaudvar. I think it is one of the best places. you have access to blue line metro & 6-4 tram (the most important tram in Budapest) . The neighbor is also good. You are just beside the Westend city-center and you have access to any thing you want there (such as Supermarkets , Coffee shops , fast foods , banks &...).
