    Phone to Dominica

    Advertisements

This isn't an advertisement, but I just recently saw an advertisement for that 10-10-987 commercial espousing low rates internationally. The rate to Dominica is $0.59 per minute and $0.99 to connect. That sounds relatively cheap to me, but since I'm here in Dominica and don't call from the states, I wasn't sure. Here is a link to their site:

    TELEPHONE

For $3.99 monthly fee ATT has a rate of $.51 per minute but I signed up for the $.41 rate buy paying a minimum usage of $19,95 per month for long distance calls. For our family this is ideal with two kids away from home. I found out the hard way that the ATT rate withiut a plan was $3.33 per minute.

    Messenger

A user recently e-mailed me and wanted me to make sure that all the parents knew that you can use MSN Instant Messenger with voice to communicate with your kids in Dominica. The service is free. Both users must have computers with internet access and a microphone. If anybody has any questions about this, feel free to post them here.

    MSN

The low-down is you have to go to MSN, get a hotmail account, and download the messenger....when you are online, and you see your kid online, your send the audio button. If you both have headphones with a microphone, it is possible to talk like on a regular phone. The connection is quick (one or two second delay once in a blue moon), but you don't have to pay for the service and it is FREE to talk.

If you go through AIM to talk it doesn't work to Dominica, but MSN Messenger it works.
