Best Czech University to study medicine?

    Advertisements

Hey, I would like to know what the best university in czech republic would be for studying medicine in terms of quality of education, recognition workload and cost? I have already qualified for the 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Palacky University and will be sitting for the entrance exams for Masaryk, 1st Faculty and HK in the coming weeks so please help me come to a conclusion.

I would also like to know if studying medicine in Czech Republic is a good choice or should I consider alternatives as I will also be applying to Cattolica University in Rome, Aga Khan University in Pakistan and University of Debrecen in Hungary?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Best known? Charles University in Prague...

...and it is not particularly close. That does not mean that it is the best medical school in the country, but it is far and away the one that will get the most recognition on a CV outside of Czech Republic.

France only offers medical education in - wait for it - French. Their med schools will tend to accept a lot of people... the vast majority of whom will fail the concours advancement exam. You can retake that exam ONE TIME if you fail it - and only after repeating the year all over again. Fail it twice and you are done with medicine in France. And remember, those who fail are generally people who already speak fluent French. If you do not speak fluent French and excel at standardized testing scenarios in French, then you will likely be 99% screwed from the get-go. Not the most likely scenario for success for a foreign student, in most cases. (FWIW, I know two French physicians quite well, and they are both brilliant. Both of them had to take the concours twice.)

Germany only offers medical school admission to people who speak - yup - German. If you can speak German (and you can get accepted in a competitive admissions environment, which is hardly automatic) then it is an excellent option.

That is why most people on VMD are seeking entry to the English speaking programs in E-EU.
