    Late start

    Advertisements

    Hello,

This question is for those that have already started studying at charles first faculty, I wanted to know whether or not it would be possible to start first year a month late due to some immigration issues?
Would I be able to talk to teacher? would I miss much? would the school be ok with that?

    thank you for your time

    Hi,

In previous separate threads both shrey & myself have recommended you to study in a 4-year medical program as you already have a molecular biology degree. You must have some strong reasons for wanting to be at 6-year program at Charles university (e.g family/friends etc.). Did you read our replies from the previous threads?

I'm at the 3rd faculty but I know a few students in 1st and 2nd year at the first faculty.

You should email this question to the university, no one here can give you a definite answer.

Would I be able to talk to teacher?
I'm not sure what you mean here?

    would I miss much?
Yes, you would miss a lot of work. They do not mess around here. From the very first lecture you are thrown into the deep end.

Do you have any background in Czech, medical Latin or biophysics?

Would the school be ok with that?
As above, this is a question you need to ask the school.

I'm fairly certain the 1st faculty will have compulsory pracs/seminars in the first month. The school would need to give you special provision for missing these pracs/seminars.

No, the Universities we recommended were in Poland or the Caribbean.

axle honey hi just I wrote this in another thread and I remembered you. I learn Polish here:
Language Learning with Livemocha | Learn a Language Online - Free!

Everyday a couple of lectures and words are creating a difference.. if you want to study too, I recommend it

At Jagiellonian, no it is not possible. Their website states (in some detail) the requirements of a undergraduate degree which will permit entry into the 4 year program. These requirements include a number of different sciences courses which include experiements.

I'm not sure about the other polish schools but if you click on the {Schools} tab at the top of this page you can see a list of Polish schools. From this list just use a search engine to locate the schools website and have a look at the entry requirements.

In regards to the Caribean, I'm not sure either. I remember looking at their schools some time ago and I think some required MCAT.

Likewise, in Australia you can do a 4-year program if you have any undergraduate degree but you must get through the GAMSAT.

You're right, there is a need for premed courses. Generally speaking, the same goes for other 4-year English med programs as well; they demand premed, which can be taken in one of the premed programs of the schools in the region. As far as I know, Debrecen, Semmelweis, and Szeged in Hungary (8 months) and Charles 3rd Faculty in Czech Rep. (January to May, 5 months) provide that program. Still to avoid surprises, there is a need to get it confirmed clearly by the school of interest, about whether there is an exact match between the requirements of the med school of interest, and the premed programs offered by other schools.

Important: Hungary has a dangerous politics which makes its situation in EU pretty much problematic and precarious. If Hungary and EU get apart, then the premed year a Hungarian school provides may not be recognized by an EU school. Which is a totally another point to calculate and talk about (if possible, in a written form for future reference) with the med school of interest (in our case, Jagiellonian), before.
