    Transferring from First Faculty Prague

    Advertisements

Have medical students managed to successfully transfer from First Faculty, Prague to other Faculties in the Czech Republic or even other countries, whether it be for academic or personal reasons?
I'm wondering which Faculties to approach. Thanks

I know two guys who transferred to Romania (to Oradea University); one other who transferred to Slovakia. But there are quite a few who transfer every year.

    Thanks for your response Shrey.

Do you know any students who managed to transfer to 2nd Faculty or any of the other medical schools in Czech Rep like Brno, Pilsen, Hradec Kralove and Palacky. Say I failed the 2nd or 3rd year at LF1 and consequently my studies got terminated would that mean the other charles univeristy medical faculties would refuse a transfer request?

I don't know a lot about the med schools outside czech rep. I would like to go somewhere which has a well organised, structured and reputable English medial programme. And more importantly, a Faculty which admits transfer students. The language is also a big consideration cos if I go to another country it would mean learning a new language. To be perfectly honest I dont know a great deal of Czech.

I'm from the UK so I guess the whole ca acreddited thing is not a big priority for me. Not that I would sniff at the opportunity to work in the States mind.

Yes, I do. 4 students transferred to Brno last year. 1 transferred to Pilsen...and as usual, we get tons of transfer students from these faculties every year (but very few actually get in.)

It seems for Brno, the entrance exam must be taken by transfer students. Was that the case for the people you know?
    This is from their website:
    Recognition of previous study
If the applicant already studied a medical faculty, he/she can ask for recognition of some of the subjects on the basis of a transcript of record and syllabuses of subjects (in English) but at first he/she must pass the entrance exam. The subjects may be recognized after the enrolment. Clinical subjects are not recognized at all. Students can be accepted at the most to the 3rd year, not higher.

I've tried contacting Pilsen (and a few other Faculties) by email but no response. I wonder if I should go there in person.

Nope, the ones who I know who transferred to Brno didn't take any entrance exam and got exempted from the subjects they already finished in the First Fac.

I wouldn't recommend going to Pilsen coz it's such a small place and most guys from there try to transfer to Prague. Prague and Brno are the best places to consider coz these are bigger cities and you won't feel too lonely.

Considering i want to get a residency in States which option you would recommend??
i say that because i dont see any other option in CR except Prague(and 1st faculty).
Any other faculty is not recognized by CA.
You know anyone who transferred to any polish medical faculty?

Well I rang up Brno first and spoke with the person in the student affairs office who handles International students in English language programme. She confirmed what I read on their website; that transfer students must also pass their entrance exam and then apply for recognition of subjects already done. This holds even if you have done the entrance exam for 1st Faculty.
Pilsen and Palacky both told me they don't accept transfers.

I had hoped to stay in the Czech Rep and I don't know if other countries will accept transfers this late.

have you failed the exams or u just decided to get away?
i think that if u have to pass some exams the university is gonna consider it(i mean why you are late)
