    Greenbook dilemma

    Advertisements

I know this is an old topic, but I'm wanting advice regarding my specific situation. So I completed a core psych rotation earlier this year, and was told that it would be greenbook and signed off by a specific hospital. Come to find out a few weeks ago, the hospital will not be signing off on it and it won't be counted as hospital affiliated. My options are to A: re-do the rotation at a hospital affiliated site (which I'm not really excited about), or B: leave it be since it will be counted as a core for ecfmg certification. My question is this: Do residencies care if one of your core rotations is greenbook? I know that I've heard that it is more of a factor for state licensing boards than for residency, but I can't help but wonder if the program directors for residency programs look down on non-hospital affiliated core rotations. I am a carribean school med student and am applying for match in 2013. My preferred states for matching are pennsylvania, florida, ohio, south carolina, and west virginia. Any advice regarding which programs in the US to apply to from Carribean med schools would be great as well! Also, a third question is this: I have a fairly low, first pass step 1 score. It is below the requirements for a few of the programs I'm applying to, should I still apply? Thanks so much for any advice!!!!!

I am also wondering about the OP's first question.

And OP as for your third question, I would say no don't bother applying. If you're already below the step cutoff to begin with, added to the fact that you're a carib also... you're pretty much not likely to get the spot.

But hey, if you have $25 to burn why not? The worst that can happen is they say no... the best? you get an interview and match. Maybe that's worth $25!
