What is the difference between Core clinical rotation and elective clinical rotation

    Advertisements

What is the difference between Core clinical rotation and elective clinical rotation?

I mean, if I were to do my core clinical rotation outside of US (ie Europe), but chose to do my elective clinical rotation in US, will the hours of my entire clinical rotation be recognized when I apply for residence at US? Will they ask me to do another set of clinical rotation in order to make up for the time that I am not at US?

Or is it better off to have the whole duration for the clinical rotation as US?

I imagine it would be best to have all of your clinical rotations in the US. As for whether or not the ones outside of the U.S. would count, I am not sure, perhaps this is something that would be a case by case basis depending on the hospital and depending on which specific EU country the rotation took place, in respect to how similar or not their set up is to the U.S. set up. I wouldn't risk it, and I would just take them all in the U.S. You're already an FMG/IMG, no point adding another complication. Hope that helped, good luck
