    About stethoscopes

    Advertisements

    Hi everybody,

I apply for next summer in medicine, and I would like to buy a new stethoscope (the one I have is a littmann classic II (for paramedics)). Sorry if my question may seems stupid: if I buy a littmann cardiology III, does a cardiology stethoscope like this one can be used for all other types of examinations (non cardiologic)?

Why spend all that extra money? For medschool (and even beyond), I think you'll be fine just using the Littman II.

The cardiology III is a good stethoscope, and you don't need to be a cardiologist to have it. I think it's good to upgrade your stethoscope so that you can hear the pathology better and make better a diagnosis, that's why I have a master cardiology steth. I wouldn't call buying good equipment a waste of money.

I have a cardio III, and I can't hear squat. Thankfully I'm not going into cardiology.
