    Unaffiliated rotations

    Advertisements

My school allows us to do 3 months of electives in hospitals that are not affiliated with the school. Typically, the school enters into some sort of contract with the preceptor to make this possible. I was thinking about taking advantage of this, but I read somewhere that this can cause problems while applying for licensure. Does anyone know which states make a big deal of this?

Not any cores, but you can do up to 12 weeks of unaffiliated electives at any hospital which has a residency program in the area you're doing. But check state licensing rules regarding this, as it may prevent you from getting licensed (pennsylvania maybe?).
    Can anyone confirm?
