    is this normal (clinicals)???

    Advertisements

i mentioned this guy in our group having problems recently. the attending is tearing apart the "form" of his patient reports, not the substance. and actually giving threats of kicking him out of the rotation.

i find this a little severe, i mean aren't we there to learn????

i feel so bad for this guy and now i am wondering who is next. i am no superstar smarty, but to have someone scared of being kicked out is enough to give anyone a nervous breakdown. and i see the guy with my own eyes working his *** off .

is this type of behaviour normal?? we are half way done, do you think the attending is just sacaring him or means it. i still am shocked. (maybe naive of me)

This is actually pretty normal - who knows why this resident does not like the student. Some of them like the power trip and also they like to mess up people. I met a social worker who loved to mess up counseling students - but loved up on all the other social worker interns.
Who knows why "they" may not like one person and use that person as an example to the rest to the group. Had a friend who was a teacher - he would decide in a high school class who the class trouble maker was (the mark) and would scare the hell out him or her in the first class to show he was the power to be feared in class and to be obeyed.

It actually worked pretty good on the high school class. I would say you are most likely working harder there also since this poor mark was ID'ed by the resident to be "the mark" of how bad my terror is. Welcome to adult game playing. Sort of silly isn't.

I call it like I see it. I am not paid by ValueMD or any school. Nor do I recruit for any school.
