    Semester 5 and other questions!

    Advertisements

Is semester 5 the usmle step 1 review spent on the island? I am a bit confused because all of the school literature discusses four semesters spent on Curacao in classroom, followed by 6 semesters clinical practice in USA but then there are references here and there to semester 5 of usmle prep.

Also for previous and current students... I am wondering, do you normally live in your same residence location throughout your entire stay at the island? I would like to come back home to Canada in between a couple of semesters and be able to leave all of my belongings in the room on the island.

Starting in January '13 and I'd love to hear from current or previous CMU students.

Forgive me, but the answers I've been getting still seem simply too vague. My concerns deal the MD5 scenario. I'm currently a transfer student going into my 5th semester at CMU. Are there any regulations with taking a Kaplan review program?

Am I now supposed to just simply sign up for any Kaplan review course in the US, and turn in my proof of confirmation to the CMU main office? And then report back to CMU on the date I plan to sit for my board examination? And then after my board examination, am I supposed to simply report back to the CMU office to proceed with clinical rotations? How does the MD5 semester work exactly? Am I going to receive documents pertaining to my 5th semester and on?

My plans are to take a leave of absence, from the Spring semester (January-April).

Next, according to Kaplan's site USMLE Step 1 Comprehensive Test Prep | Kaplan Test Prep, I plan to come back and take my Kaplan review course in Chicago, IL, beginning May 13. Now with that said, am I suppose be signing up for the 14 week or 16 week review course?

There still seems to be so many questions about the 5th semester. Are 5th semester students simply just free at will to take whichever and whereever kaplan review course?

I feel, as if this were the case....we sign up and sit for any review course, sit and pass the Step 1 examination and then proceed with CMU's program...
