CaRMS tips from IMG who has matched to Canadian residency

    Advertisements

If you are a foreign trained doctor thinking of pursuing medical licensure in Canada, the best way to navigate the process is to speak with an immigration lawyer first and to do ample research in order to develop a thorough understanding of the process, timeline, and what it would take to succeed. All who wish to practice in Canada, whether you are a medical student or a doctor with many years of experience, must complete residency training before you can practice in Canada. The Canadian residency matching application portal is called CaRMS and you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to apply. The application process is also highly competitive, with limited spots available for international medical graduates.

This videos series may help you better understand the process before you embark on it:

    Hi Don,

Thanks for your comment! My Degree Consultants Inc. is indeed a legally registered business. We offer advice to medical school or residency applicants in the form of hourly consultations. Clients are paired with current healthcare professionals who have knowledge and past experience with the consultation topic. Our executive team does comprise of 3 doctors who graduated from Ontario medical schools. However, they do not host the consultations personally. Our network is supported by 70+ consultants at different stages of training and with varied expertise, some of whom are adequately qualified to provide advice to IMG applicants because they have themselves successfully matched to residency in Canada as either a foreign-trained doctor or a Canadian citizen who attended medical school abroad.
