    attending medical school in india

    Advertisements

    hi,
I am a canadian secondary school student wishing to attend medical school in India as it would save 4 years which I would spend in Canada doing BSc. i wanted to ask that is the MBBS degree of India recognized here and what all I have to do to practice or continue specialization in Canada after that.

    Thank You

yes, I believe it is. but without a residency you have no chance of practicing medicine. without a resdiency, the best you can do is walk around telling everyone you are a doctor, without the ability to see any patients.

short cutting the system will actually take you longer. your carms application (look up carms if you don't know what it is) will pale in comparison to all the others who have done undergraduate degree's & graduate degree's.

the point of doing an undergrad here is to become a well balanced person, and learn the study skills needed to make it through medical school.

bear in mind that just because someone might have the requirements to apply for a residency placement, doesn't mean they will get it. 1400 applicants who are finishing (or finished medical school) applying for about 140 family medicine positions....

you will be at a huge disadvantage if you don't have a bachelors on your residency application as there's a lot of other applicants that do have a bachelors.
