Contact Needed for Canadian Student Organization at SABA University

    Advertisements

    Hello Medical Students,

CaRMS is currently conducting a study on Canadian Students Studying Medicine Abroad and we have unsuccessfully been attempting to contact a representative from the Canadian Club/Organization at SABA.

We realize there are many Canadians studying medicine at SABA and would love to include you in our survey.

Please reply to this tread if you have contact information for us or if you are a Canadian student studying at SABA and would like to participate in our study.

    Thank You!
    CaRMS

Rest assured we will be contacting other schools with Canadian students. We simply decided to post here first to see what the response is like and go from there.

    Thank you for your interest.

    Hi there,

You're right, the student body of Saba is at least 50% Canadian, and some class years are close to 100% Canadian.

I'm sure most of us would be interested in getting involved with your survey. If you leave your contact information I'll go and talk to the club president so they can get in touch with you.

Every five years or so they try to estimate the number of Canadians studying medicine abroad.

(CaRMS makes money getting students to apply to the CaRMS match, so they want to know where the greatest concentration of Canadians are studying, so as to target their recruitment efforts).

If any Canadians studying at SABA are interested in participating and/or learning more about our study please private msg me and I would be happy to speak with you on a one on one basis.

Briefly, this study is examining the barriers that Canadians feel exist to returning to Canada for post-graduate training or practice, it is in no way a recruitment effort as we do not recruit applicants.

    Thank you.

is it really necessary to have the same post over and over with only the school name changed? we get it, there's a survey....

perhaps it would be shorter and simpler to do a survey on what barriers DON'T exist for students to return to Canada.

What do you call it when CaRMS flies to SABA or SGU to tell the Canadians how/when/where to apply to CaRMS?

    I call that recruiting.

What bugs me the MOST is that CaRMS produces graphs/stats in their presentations which are, if not outright lies, at least VERY deceptive.

Canadian Premed and Medical Schools - View Single Post - Perfectly qualified, but can't get in

This graph was shown to Canadians grads to show how much better the match had gotten in the last few years. THIS IS A LIE. The odds of matching for Canadians had pretty much remained UNCHANGED - the numbers were better only because CaRMS had included in their calculating increasing numbers of IMG spots that Canadian grads aren't eligible to match to!

Can you believe it? I was FLOORED when I saw this. They're showing you an increase in residency spots that YOU CAN'T APPLY FOR and telling YOU YOUR ODDS ARE BETTER!

This is the graph re-drawn with the truthful numbers! (The ratio of R1 spots for CMGs to the number of CMGs).

    Look pretty different, don't they?

But why bother producing doctored graphs to show to med students across the planet? I'll give you three guesses.

    Caveat emptor.

Wait a second!!!! you mean that CaRMs is not flying down to the carib and giving these great lectures on future outlooks for bringing Canadians back home for residency cause they like us and want us back EH. You mean it is all to make more money on the applicant. Nonsense
