Section VII International Training (Non-RCPSC Accredited/Non-ACGME Approved)

General Information By resolution of Council, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) has discontinued the process of assessing Postgraduate Medical Education systems (PGME) for International Medical Graduate (IMG) applicants seeking RCPSC Certification.
Therefore, the RCPSC will not process any application for credit for training in International PGME Systems not listed on the RCPSC web site at International Postgraduate Medical Education.
The RCPSC is working to develop a NEW individual competency assessment system based on a standardized Canadian clinical assessment program for candidates who intend to practice in Canada. Detailed information outlining this new process will be posted on the RCPSC website as soon as it is available.

    That is fantastic news

The wind of change are blowing through the entire canadian system.

    This is great news,

A move to individual competency via assessments is very fair and reasonalble way to get certification.

I took part in the pilot assessment project, and I know that there is a move to develop a national IMG assessment process, that does not involve repeating residency

that is why I am having such a hard time deciding on whether or not take the residency spot.

I have would have very few restrictions on my license and they can be removed so easily.

For the first time I am actually beginning to believe that things are changing for the better.
