Is FA + UWorld enough for biochemistry?

    Advertisements

I've never really liked biochem right from Med school. I'm now preparing for Step 1 and I initially wanted to read lippincott's biochem but now a part of me wants to skip the book.

I want to know if FA+ UWorld questions would be enough to prepare me for biochem questions?

I have 3-4 weeks (working part-time too) allocated to it. What would be the high-yield facts to concentrate on also?

Yeah, First Aid 2010 should be plenty for biochem. You might also read through the biochem section in MedEssentials. I also hated biochem and did pretty poorly in it in school--only studied FA and one pass through the biochem med essentials section and biochem was one of my best sections on the actual test. Have no fear. Above all else, be sure to understand the BASICS--the high yield stuff. Don't even think about reading lippincotts with 3-4 weeks left!

Worried about Biochem for the boards?

Try this new review book that just came out from Harvard:

Vijay's Underground Guide to Medical Biochemistry and Metabolic Disease (with a foreword by Dr. Rick ******** - associate director of HST at Harvard Medical School).

The book is now available on amazon.com and you can also see a preview of the book along with student reviews on their website:

Thanks guys, u are all awesome

I didnt say i had 3-4 weeks left to the exam, I just said I was allocating 3-4 weeks to read through biochem.

I ended up reading most of lippincott anyways.

Will likely go with UW, FA and the notes i made while reading Lippincott
