What the heck do I have?
    what enzyme is deficient?

Von Gierke disease remember that in gluconeogenis you need to create glucose, and glucose can be stored in the form of GLYCOGEN, so your body needs the glycogen breakdown to create the glucose but cannot so wala HYPOGLYCEMIA.

    glucose 6 phosphatase

and remember that you will have an increase of glycogen in the LIVER

remember to add, or correct anything or just lump this information with somenthing else

so what does your body do?

If you can't create glucose from the glycogen, then what can your body do?

It can lead the body to go towards the lactate leading to lactic acidosis; and where does the energy for this pathway come from... HMP shunt (NAD/NADP), leading to the production of two ATP..not enough energy on a long term basis; Another factor with Von Gierke's disease.. it leads to increased TGs, why? Remember the liver transfers the fat to the adipose tissue, but it can't because it does not have the protein to transfer (VLDLs) leading to a fatty liver...
