    Reaction- ΔG0'

    V ↔ W 4.0
    W ↔ X +0.4
    X ↔ Y 3.4
    Y ↔ Z + 5.7

    From the values of ΔG0' given in the table above, which compound in the overall metabolic pathway V ↔ W ↔ X ↔ Y ↔ Z will accumulate in the largest amount at equilibrium?

    A) V
    B) W
    C) X
    D) Y
    E) Z

    I choose D, substance Y accumulates.

    the reaction goes in the direction of negative DeltaG (free energy)

    V ↔ W 4.0 forwards by alot
    W ↔ X +0.4 backwards by alittle
    X ↔ Y 3.4 forwards by alot
    Y ↔ Z + 5.7 backwards by alot

    V => W <- X => Y <= Z

    thanks again (i think ur same person who ans my other doubt?)

    tell me, why is Z wrong? i read some wher all reactions must be added and check DeltaG. This case, adding all the reactions it is -1.3. That means the overall metabolic pathway favors a spontaneus forward reaction/ so ending in large amounts of Z.
    how is this wrong? Also what is the significance of the words 'in equilibrium' in the q mean? my thought on this was that reaction is trying to make DeltaG= 0........which strengthens my idea that entyre reaction will go forwad and give lots of Z/ correct me if iam wrong plsss
