    USMLE Step Prep

    Advertisements

Hey, I am a long time forum viewer but never posted or anything. I am an ASUM student who completed basic sciences and now is in clinical rotations in Baltimore.

Everyone out there has their own opinions on how to prepare.. I see a lot of super high scores out there, it is hard to believe what is true. I have just made a website which details what I think is important. I hope you will find it helpful. I followed my own advice and I wrote my Step I 3 weeks after the "MD 5". I got a 238/99 which is a solid score, but not super high as many people can get if you take long enough to study. I believe in writing it quickly, so you can make "the match" deadlines, the old question of scores vs. time. I plan on applying in Sept 2010 to start PGY1 in July 2011. Please visit my site and tell me what you think:

(Its not letting me post a link, so just good old copy and paste, its http then that link not www)

good post Re: USMLE Best overall prep material

Hey congrads, and good post, personally I think even that is too much, aside from lecture notes, the best way to prep for both steps of the USMLEs is to stick to one qbank, and two review books at the most. (I really like the FA+BW and UW combination.)

most students over study or do too many Qs and get confused, best overal strategy is to read then do Qs, then read again and do Qs.

FA+BW+UW for 6hrs per day for 6 wks, is what worked REALLY well for me, and many of the students that I tutured over the years.

Congrads on your score, and good luck !

FA + BW (Boards and Wards) for step 1 & 2CK

    FYI:
Because of the clinical nature of step 1, I would also advise in reading and reviewing some of the 2CK notes. I also found HEAVY Emphasis on the 3P's: Pathology-Pharmacology-Physiology

Aside from FA step 1, 2CK I HIGHLY recommend BW:
    Hence:
Boards and Wards: Pathophysiology review is AWESOME !!!

    Boards & Wards: Clinical Medicine
