-I also have a high watt electric hotplate that I use to boil the 4 gallons, works excellent, very heavy duty, it's what I use to cook on regularly too. I want to try to sell it with the kit first because I imagine it takes a while to bring 4 gallons to boil on a conventional stove...not to mention the cost of gas. $20 for the hotplate.

Ok, a little info about the process for any first-timers interested: The brewing process takes about 3 hours, it's basically like cooking soup. Then you let it cool, put it in a fermenter and wait 2 weeks for the yeast to convert the sugar into alcohol. Keeping temperatures at around 70-75F is the only problem down here so I put the fermenter in one of those buckets, fill it with water (with tons of soap to prevent mosquitos) and rotate frozen water bottles (6) in the morning before class, it works out fine. Then you bottle it, which shouldn't take more than an hour. After that it takes about a week for it to carbonate. That's the minimum time, the longer you let it sit the better. For ingredients I usually by enough for two batches of beer over the break and bring it back in my suitcase. I put together a kit for about $25 which gets you ~50 bottles of beer, or you can buy already completed kits from sites like Midwest Supplies - Homebrewing and Winemaking : Midwest Supplies They deliver to PO boxes if you ask them so you can get it via Mailbox, but the shipping for a 7lb package is crazy, it ends up coming to $50 for ~50 beers, about the same as buying cases of Presidente though. It's fun, I've done something like 50 gallons over my time down here, it pays for itself quickly. If you have any questions about the kit or the process feel free to ask.

I don't have a car so you need to get one here to pick the stuff up, I'm near Sapphire Hotel. Message me on here or email me at: stupid alternative (at) yahoo dot com
    -thanks for looking

edit: I need the hotplate until the end of the semester, I can give it to you sometime around finals week
