It's a weekday so the office is open and you can go see the place today.

How much are utilities? Or is the rate dependent on the company the renter uses?

All utilities are handled by GEBE, the only water and electricity provider in St Maarten:
--I would estimate the cost of water to be ~USD 12 - 15/ month throughout the year. For water, GEBE has a fixed baseline fee of 15.00 ANG (=8.52 USD) + 2.50 ANG (=1.42 USD) for every 1,000 L of water used.
--Electricity can cost anywhere from ~USD 80 - 175/ month, depending on your usage and the time of year. I have always tried to conserve energy so my electricity bill was ~90 a couple of times in the winter but in the summer it was closer to 150. I'm sure the less careful you are to saving energy, the more likely your bill will be to reaching USD 200/ month. It really should never be above that except maybe if you are hosting a live-in guest.

These are pretty typical costs for students who do pay utilities.

In the fall/winter and spring months, electricity is at its lowest usage so the bill will not be as high as in the summer months. In the summer, it is often hot so you might be tempted to run your A/C more frequently. To avoid running your A/C so much, you should keep your sliding glass door to the balcony open (there is insect netting so bugs don't get in). A lot of other apartments close to school don't have that luxury so you'll save money on utilities this way without inviting island bugs inside.

Thanks for the info. Does Campus Village have a website listing the available units and are they pet (dog) friendly?

There is no online list of vacancies for Campus Village Apartments. They are pet friendly but you must officially pay a fee of USD 300 to keep a pet in the apartment. I know of several tenants with pets in the apartment so it would be nothing unusual.

As far as I know, there are no other available apartments in Campus Village at this time. In fact, when I checked a week ago, the entire apartment was rented out as of at least 1 month ago.

I am not working for the leasing company but I do hold the current lease for the unit listed here. I chose this apartment myself and was very much anticipating living there for the duration of the lease period. However, due to unforeseen reasons, I must be off island for some time.
