    How is Summit Resort?

    Advertisements

Has anyone stayed at Summit Resort? I am contemplating staying here starting in the Fall and was wondering whether someone could provide me with their experiences. Thanks!

Are you talking about staying in Summit for an entire semester or more? Or are you inquiring about staying there while you're visiting?

I've only stayed there a couple of days while waiting for my apartment to become available when I arrived on the island, but I've heard of students actually living there throughout basic sciences. Typically, first semesters live on campus. Everyone else live in buildings owned by Solutions, some live around the area still walking distance to the campus, a few drive.

Regarding Summit, I can only tell you about the room I stayed in. It's basically a studio w/ kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, etc. I think if you go on their website, you'll find some pictures. I believe they have a generator, but not 100%, so don't quote me on that. Overall, it's pretty nice. It's one of hotels around campus w/ cheaper rates, but I don't know what they charge if you choose to live there. Call them; I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were in the process of signing a lease with them, so obviously you've been in contact with the people at Summit. Like I said, it's not a bad place to stay when visiting, but I'm not one to tell you how they are as landlords. Like I said, it's not unheard of to stay in Summit for a semester or so, but I'm not sure how much they charge for rent/utilities.

Solutions-owned apartments typically charge $1200/month + utilities (usually about $200?) for 1BR/1Bath. Honestly haven't had any problems with them; whenever something little needs to be fixed, if you're nice, they'll usually come within a day or two. The only thing I've heard about them is that you almost always never get your full deposit back. I have yet to see how this plays out whenever I leave the island! Other landlords from surrounding apartments are hit or miss, so you take a chance either way.

I know this may not be too helpful, but I guess you can always sign a lease for a semester at Summit, and if you end up liking it, they would be happy to extend it.

Well, Summit is $900/month plus utilities, but includes cable and Internet (Telum, which I've heard is the fastest/most reliable on the island). Even if it ends up not being perfect, saving ~$200+ per month will add up over time.

So what's the problem? Looks like you already have your answer! You can always just sign a lease for 1yr or less if you think you might not like it, but for that price, I would stay there...

Just so you know, the rate is $1000/month for the fall. The lower rate for summer was due to the slower season.

And the leases are for 1 year with the option to extend for the last semester.

Actually, I'm in the process of signing the rental agreement, and it's 900/month for the fall...

Actually, I just finished signing one today and it is $1000/month for the fall for all of the student units (studio and 1 bedroom). They probably sent you the forms for summer, so don't be surprised when you get here and they make you pay the extra $100/month.

Which unit are you going to be renting by the way?
