    Flushing hospital, Queens, NY site

    Advertisements

    hello guys.

Hope all are well with you and family. I am heading out to Flushing hospital site for clinical, starting date is september 6. There will be 9 of us be there plus me so 10 from AUC.

The good thing about this site is that I will kick off with surgery follwed by the entire core rotaions except psychiatry at St john's which is a few blocks away from Flushing. And I will finish off core at Wykoff in Brookyln which is also 20 minites driving from flushing. By doing it I will stay at same aparment for entire clinicals at the expanse of some cummuting daily. Hope I can ride tube and park my car by the train station so can save gas and hassels with parking in NY.

the Flusing hopspital alos offer entire electives so I would hope to finish all electives at flushing.

Baltimore's St agnes was offered to me but I did rejcet for a silly reason. my intuition tells me not to go there. I dunno no...hope my intuitions are correct.

Michigan and Kern are all filed up.

if any of you guys are heading out to NY sites or already there since last semster, let me know housing situations and other tips.

I would appreicate it and I will keep you guys informed of my clinicals

The housing infor that I have found is so far surprisingly affordable range from weekly rate of $120 to $800 Max.

take care guys and keep it up with basic sicence at the island. The time flies by and soon you will have to study for step 1 as if your life depends on which I did and be done with madness of step 1.

I just bought a nissan pathfinder 2001 model this baby is super nice and clean. Will be on road trip from Denver to NY so it will be a heck of driving. when I was a undegrad, I was fantasizing of taking a cross country road trips but it was never fulfiled due to the job hunting after collge and family moving and going....

it is about time to do what I always wanted to do. I think we as med students are trapped in tomorrow ldeal. All are delayed until we secure a residency even beyond and we may enjoy a life afterward. Probably life is not that long ....

    Anyway, Good luck guys

    Hey Ken,

Enjoy the drive and see the sites. We had a great time driving from Indiana to California across 8 states in 5 days.

Best of luck in the Big Apple!

    Aloha,

    Aloha,
Long road trips are quite the adventure...we did Seattle to West Virginia in 4 days. Fun stuff!!! What sucked the most is that Jason and I had to drive separately in order to get both of our vehicles there. Thanks to the new Harry Potter on audio book, we were able to keep ourselves entertained along the way.

    What's up Ken!
I'll be at Flushing as well doing the remainder of my cores after i finish surgery at Jamaica.
by the way...if anyone gets to do surgery at Jamaica hospital...i highly recommend it. Cornell residents rotate through tere, and they're attendings are cornell 'graduates'...mostly. It's a great program. The more proactive you are there...the more you will get out of it.
If you want to f' off...you can do that as well...except during trauma.

Anywho...i'll be at Flushing along with minotauro in october doing either peds or ob.
    later!
