    Providence Housing

    Advertisements

I will be at Providence from September - February, and I am looking for a place to stay. Any ideas on housing nearby or which areas to look at? I am not familiar with MI at all. Also, any thoughts on the extended stay hotel nearby? Can anyone who has stayed there comment on their experience?

    Thanks

Hey you can check out West Bloomfield or Novi for a place to stay. They are really great areas. I know a few people who stayed in Thornberry Apartments in West Bloomfield (5460 Bentley Road, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48322-4611). Good luck!

Novi and Farmington Hills are very nice and safe areas for people to live and within reasonable distance to Providence. We lived there for about 2 years in clinicals. The closer to providence the more worrisome the neighborhoods get.

    Good Luck!

Royal Oak & Birmingham are not bad either. Basically, any place in Oakland County by Providence is a pretty safe bet.

Any places recommended for a 1 month stay? I'll be at Providence just for the entire month of Aug.

I live ~ 20 minutes west of Southfield. I'll be starting my first semester at AUC in Janurary 2012. Most cities west and north of southfield are good neighborhoods. I would recommend Novi, Plymouth, Northville, Farmington, Farmington hills a slightly less expensive city is Livonia. Stay away from Detroit or other cities south of Southfield since some areas can be high crime. Feel free to msg me if you want to know if an area/apartment is in a good neighborhood.

Hello - thanks for posting. Can you tell me anything about the Coach House apartments across from Southfield Providence Hospital? If its a good area to live, because the rent is fine, but I've heard mixed review. And how bad are the roads in winter to drive from Farmington/Novi to Southfield Providence - b/c I've never driven in snow. Any recommendation would help. Thanks

My husband and I are Caribbean graduates currently working/living in Troy MI.
We have a home with semi private entry and a room upstairs that we are looking to rent out to medical students. We are in a very safe area about 20 mins driving distance from Providence. Our living quarters are on the main floor so there is plenty of quiet time and privacy. The room is fully furnished and is next to a full bath that will mostly be used by visiting guests and the student. Utilities and internet are included. The house is a 5 min drive to restaurants, grocery stores and the shopping mall. We know how difficult it is to find a place month to month without a contract and we are asking for 400$ per month. We have a newborn and would like to find a quiet studious person to rent the room. You can contact me at [email protected] for more details
