    Visa issues for UK

    Advertisements

Has anyone heard any details about the problems families/couples are having getting visas to go to the UK? Apparently to get your student visa families are having to show that they have enough currently in the bank to sustain the family for an entire year (around $30,000 for a family of 5)!! Apparently this is a new development b/c of the UK economy...
anyone know the details of this?

The visa requirements have changed. I don't know much about them, because my visa came through literally days before the change happened. I do know that several students from my class have had to postpone the start of their rotations in the UK because their visas haven't come through on time. The application process is evidently much more involved now, requireing more paperwork.

And from some of the rumours that I've heard, it is harder for families to come over. But I don't know that first hand.
    Suffering is optional.

hi- i had to change my plans for the UK bc apparently the regulations changed june 1st. there was a little while ago a group of terrorists found in a london cell who were posing as medical school students. sooo needless to say the regs changed and more stringent.
see here for upadated info, but be prepared for a lot of reading and seaching for links.
(ok google "visa4UK", this thing isnt letting me post a link)
apparently the rules are unclear as to whether the rules are the same or different for a tier 4 student to be there less than 5-6 months.
If i were you I would wait a couple months (if you can) for the Uk / AUC depts which are helping you with your visa clear up which paperwork is actually needed.
    hope this helps.
