    ck waiver??

    can someone please explain the ck waiver? (or something like that?)
    i keep getting emails about shelf exams and usmle ck waivers, and those of us starting clinicals are a tad confused.

    Ya...kind of strange indeed.
    I had NO idea that if you fax in your step II CK score sheet, in hopes to becoming exempt from taking a certain shelf(s), that if you are not meeting a 'minimum standard' by AUC, it will be counted as a 'failure' on that respective shelf section of your record. Did that make sense?? I'm a little confused as to what I wrote...

    Anywho, I guess the moral of the story is that if you do not meet the requirements (as stated in the email) to pass/become exempt for a certain shelf, do NOT fax in your step II CK score report until you have taken that respective shelf exam.

    Luckily I didn't have to deal with that issue....but knew some people who had to go through it, without any prior explanation. Sucks...but it is what it is I guess.
