Pre-med isn't just for students who don't have pre-reqs. Sometimes it's also for students that for one reason or another have very low stats but the review committee sees something in them and would like to give them a shot anyway opposed to simply denying them. As for what it takes to get a modified pre-med ... Who knows? Other than the committee.

There is no hard and fast rule. It most likely is decided on a case by case basis depending most likely on what your strengths and weaknesses were during your pre-med coursework. If you would like a better detailed answer, you should call admissions and ask a counselor but they might not even know because it's the "committee" that comes up with stuff like that. The orgo 2 thing, I think you asked this somewhere else, but yeah it's doable. When you send your app in, just let your counselor know that's what you're doing. They might take it into account when making an admissions decision. At any rate, if the grade isn't at least a "C", you'll need to take it over so whether it's for Fall '09 or Spring '10, you need to re-take Orgo. Good luck

I think it's because your question has been asked and answered before. If you do a search, you'd find it. (Actually i started a thread over a year ago asking the same question).

I can take Orgo 2 during the summer, and possibly apply for Med sept 09? My cumulative gpa is very low compared to my science. What do you think I should or can do? Thanks very much!
I am in the same boat pretty much. I applied to the 4 year M.D. program but i wont get in to that cuz i dont have the Organic II done either. I think they will put me in Pre Med 4 then I can get into med from there.

They said they could not be sure until after my application has been reviewed but that is prob what will happen I am hoping.

Makes sense to get it done. Without the prerequisite MD-1 will be tough.

I dont suppose any of you know the average stats of accepted pre meds. Ive heard it depends heavily on health care exposure and that theyve accepted people between a 2.0 and 4.0.
