    Foreign RN,AUA Pre-med eligible?

    Advertisements

    Hi,
Iam an RN from a West African country interested in pursuing my MD degree. The nursing program I attended awards a diploma so I technically do not have a Bachelor's but our program was a 2 year program. I have been working as a nurse for 5 years now and have undertaken a 1 year advanced training in Critical Care Nursing. Do I qualify for the Pre- med program? If Tipton could respond I'd really appreciate it.

You most likely are more than qualified for the Premed program at AUA depending on how well you did on your course work. Another option available to you would be completing the remaining Prerequisite courses you are missing (Organic Chemistry, Physics, other?) and then apply directly into the medical school.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply, Tipton.
I will have to take entry exams and seek admission into the university here and then take those courses (but I will have to pursue a degree for that )that's why I would rather try to get into a 6 year med program. I've already been accepted into a European med school but have not heard good news about that place, I have been on here researching to see what my best option would be.

Does AUA have an international office that I can talk to regarding financial AID for non-US citizens. I mean are we able to apply for loans if we have a US cosigner? Also how do we go about obtaining a student's visa etc, These are important questions I need answers to before I apply.

    Thanks for your assistance.
