    need advice for premed

    Advertisements

I did my 12 from india in 1999(biology,physics,chemistry.english)i and went to ukraine to do my MD physician degree in 2000 unfortunatly after 2 semesters coundnt continue(family problems) and came back to india in 2001(have my transcripts) and came to canada in 2002 with parents and because of financial strain i started working full time to support my parents and lost my way to become a good physcian. After doing so many odd jobs and pursuing other professions(part time) i finally decided to go back to what i left and be a physician i want to restart all over again and willing to put my heart and soul to fullfill my dream. but being in canada its really a long process esp B.sc being 4 years!!! i am considering to go into caribbean university aua would be my first choice if they let me in( pre med 1) i am hoping aua premed is accredited? will i have any problems in long run? or should i do my prerequists from canada which is hard coz i am working full time plz suggest as i would like to settle in US what are my chances need advice....

Since you have your transcripts from Ukraine, you should see what sort of evaluation you can have done. If you apply to AUA as a Premed student you will need to show what you did academically while in the Ukraine. A lot of students use World Education Services (www.wes.org) or any other NACES recognized agency. Request a "course-by-course" evaluation which will show course title, credit and grades for all of your classes.

Also I suggest completing a few courses at a local college/university before jumping back into another off-shore medical school. Either use it as a review of the material or a test of your desire to become a physician (or both). Some volunteer work would be a good idea too to get back into the medical environment.

    Hope this helps.
