FM at Kingston is an amazing experience. Awesome rotation.
Your 6 weeks are broken into sections. Depending on if you are in Kingston itself or in Ellensville, your schedule is 2 weeks in-patient, 2 weeks out-patient, 2 weeks in-patient or vice versa.

there are 4 students usually total for the duration of your rotation.
1 student at site at a time. basically, 2 students in kingston and 2 in ellenville. of the students at each site, 1 will be in-patient and 1 out-patient and then you switch every 2 weeks.

In-patient at kingston is 7am for AM sign-out with residents, 730 or 830 is start of lecture for about an hour or so. then you go see your patients and round. rounding is done by 1pm latest depending on # of patients. then you wait till there are admissions in ER. evening sign-out is 6pm with night-call residents. technically you don't have to stay past 5pm as students, but if you want to be in good graces of everyone there, stay, it's a good learning experience.

Out-patient at kingston begins basically with the lecture in the morning at the hospital and then after lecture, going to the clinic from 9am to noon with one of the doctors, and then 1pm to 5pm with the residents. this is also an amazing experience.

best thing about this rotation is the one-on-one with the doctors as you'll probably be the only medical student on the "staff" unless someone is doing a Sub-I there. in-patient residents consist of 1 chief resident (3rd year) and 3 first year residents and the attending for the week. each week, there is a new attending.

there is 1 presentation that you do with one attending and the other medical students. nothing to stress about, it's just a report on a patient that you that had an interesting case.

grading: give each attending an evaluation. at the end of 6 weeks, a composite evaluation will be sent to the school.

overall, the residency program director is awesome doctor. you'll come to learn that everyone on the staff is caring and willing to teach as long as you put the time in.

    anything else, contact me.

    hope this helps.
