Psychiatry in Summa Health Ohio questions

    Advertisements

Anyone do their psych rotation at this location? Just got a call from the clinical coordinator asking if I was interested in it. It starts on May 2, 2011.

This would be my first rotation so I have some questions and maybe some of you guys can help me out. Currently, I am living in Maryland. May 2 is less than 2 weeks from now. Is that enough time to find a place for 6 weeks, move, and get settled before starting?

Also would love to get any input about Summa Health.

I told the coordinator that I would let him know tomorrow.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I believe it is green. My concern is that it starts in like 10 days. Is that enough time to find a place to live and move in?

    Thanks for the advice.

take the rotation ASAP. don't sit on starting your first rotation, once you get started they try harder to get you your next rotation. BONUS is its green and the hospital offers other green rotations, which u r likely to get. You will find housing, many have done it in shorter time spans. Try craigs list. Worse comes to worse get a hotel for the week until u get something. Many students would kill to get this offer

Thanks for all the advice. I will take it. I am searching on craigslist for housing. I have emailed a bunch of people already, but haven't received a reply.

Couple of questions as far as rotations go. What should I take with me as far as equipment. What about dress code, is tie necessary, or dress shirt/pants just fine? Sorry, I'm just starting out so I have all these questions so I can prepare as to what I should expect on these rotations.

Also, how is the area as far as crimes and such?

    Thanks again.

Always dress up - tie, dress shirt, slacks, dark socks, dress shoes. They will let you know if you don't need a jacket and tie but you don't want to start off looking like you don't take your training seriously...

Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

In Ohio cost of living isn't very expensive. You could probably stay at an Extended stay hotel and get a good discount. Just call the one there near Akron and ask what discounts they offer to hospital personnel working for Summa Health. Also, is this the only rotation the coordinator offered you for Ohio, or are there start dates available for other rotations in Ohio. Just wondering, since I'm anxious to get back to the midwest.
