Internal Medicine at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center

    Advertisements

Anyone willing to share what their internal medicine rotation experience was like at Mercy St. Vincent medical Center? What is the schedule like for a typical day? What are good books to study from for the internal medicine rotation? Any suggestions on places to live in Toledo, Ohio?
This is my first rotation, so any information will be really helpful. Thanks!

I'm starting there as well! AUA never sent me the contact information for the coordinator there. Could one of you (if you have it) send to me in a private message? thanks!

How is this rotation? I will be starting in June 13, 2011. What's the schedule like, how are the doctors? What about housing, what areas to avoid? Any info would be great.

    Thanks

I have no idea about housing, what areas are safe and so forth. I would be very thankful for any help u can give me. Please help me out. U can give me ur number and we can talk...i can ask u all my questions and then i will at least know one person in the hospital. thanks

Sorry that I haven't responded yet. Just got off long call and today is the first day of Ramadan and I'm really hungry (can't eat until another half hour or so). Anyway, I have to get food real soon so I'll try to keep this concise.

As for housing, it's tough. From what people told me, you want to avoid pretty much 4-5miles radius of the hospital. Not a safe area. Hospital itself is safe and secure. If you have issue with housing, contact Robbin Millets (she's the student director or whatever that sets up the schedule and stuff). You can probably stay at the hospital dorms until you can find something.

I'm staying in a house with like 3 other guys (random people). Attendings, residents, interns are all nice and approachable. Haven't had any issues with them yet. Schedule pretty much depends on when your team rounds. Mon, Tues, Thus, Fri there's morning report at 7am and afternoon conference at noon. If your team rounds early, you'd have to see your patients before so you may have to come in at 6 and see your patients before and after the morning report. Usually get done after rounds (unless you are on long call, which is from 4-8pm or until you get 2 patients).

Anyway, if you have any further questions, email me at srajib1 (at) gmail (dot) com. I will usually respond to that fairly quickly. Good luck and I can provide you with more info in email.
