    What the?

So here's how the new clinical coordinators are solving the rotation issue... They grab something out of the pile that fits the dates you request and give it to you without even asking if you want it. For example, I sent an e-mail asking for a core in feb. What did I get? You are hereby confirmed for a rotation in Hematology/Oncology elective. WTH?? I hate hem/onc and Im not considering it at all and it in no way relates to the fields I am considering. Could you have not called me and asked me if I would like this field? I mean if it was a core... sure give me anything, because I need it. BUT don't go handing out electives without asking students if it relates to the career they want.

i get the impression that some of these "clinical coordinators" are simply glorified schedulers, who don't really understand the implications of various clinical rotations.

I figured that I would never get the electives I wanted through the school, so I picked my away electives wisely and got all my LORs from there. And, then I just dealt with the random AUA electives (GI at Wyckoff, EM at Long Beach etc...) knowing that they wouldn't really help with the Match for me.

Yeah I got a call a few days ago and the coordinator was trying to put me in an elective for Jan. Little problem though, had already done that elective...at the same location.

Where was this hem/onc rotation? I really need just one last elective scheduled, specifically in Feb. Maybe they will give it to me.

Haha, just got off the phone with interfaith...

I was scheduled for an elective there in January.

Little problem though...we have to complete our IM core before being scheduled for an elective at Interfaith and I don't start IM until February.

Yeah I ran into the same problem with cores at interfaith, but from what I gathered, it's up to AUA to allow us to do cores there before we've done IM. I was told that if you haven't done IM you're only options for electives are Jackson Park Hospital in chicago or Wycoff Hospital.

i love how they tell students one thing, and some other students another thing. are these coordinators actually looking at the same list or just randomly assigning whatever they want to whomever they want. and then telling everyone else "oh. sorry. nothing available then." for example, how did they assign arkie an IM related elective, yet they tell me no u can't have anything. that tells u a lot right there how things are working out at the office.

someone let me know when things get better.

and can anyone get through to the dept now via phone or is the only way to hear back is via email...3-4 days later.

btw-arkie--can u tell me who the coordinator at Interfaith is to work out electives? i need to contact them myself directly i guess. thanks.
