Greenbook Elective in Brookyn, please come?

    Advertisements

    Hallo all

So I'm living mere minutes from Interfaith now days and I would love to do some more rotations there (I'm doing endo now)...actually I'd love to do Neuro there....

The rub is that the hospital requires 5 students per rotation, so pretty please with a cherry on top, would you call your CC and ask for Neuro in January at Interfaith?

    Pllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssssssss seeeeeeeee?

I tried to schedule some electives there for Jan. and Feb. before I start IM there on 2/28 but our lovely coordinator told the hospital to tell me 'no' because I hadn't completed IM yet, even though I'd be going right into IM on 2/28. Oh well. Doing electives in Chicago during that time instead.

Peds at Jackson Park is like this; The attending is Dr. Montgomery. 3 out of the 6 weeks you do Neonatology in addition to Pediatrics. Dr. M will split the class up in 1/2 so that not everyone is doing Neo at the same time. The morning section will report to Neonatology at 7:15. The doctor for that is Dr. Fumara but he's hardly ever here. Other neo attendings get assigned to us. In Neo you have to come in everyday and everyone takes turns doing presentations. There are no formal lectures. You'll have to do 2 progress notes and 2 admit notes within the 3 weeks. There aren't a lot of babies so there is a lot of overlap between students. There's a test at the end of the 3 weeks. I take it on 12/17 so I'll let you know how that is but I hear the attending doesn't even grade it. As for peds, you have to come in M, T, W, and Fri. There's lecture from 2-4. When you're doing Neo, after you're done in the nursery you go down to the clinic until 12 and then lunch break from 12-2. When you're not apart of Neo you come in at 2 for lecture and then see the patients in clinic for the afternoon. The Neo section is dismissed after the lecture. In lecture we also take turns doing presentations but Dr. M will do lectures every now and again. There aren't a lot of peds patients either so you're supposed to share a patient with 1 other classmate. Dr. M doesn't make you come in on Th but you can if you want to see patients by yourself. An evaluation is turned in for Neo and Peds.

If you've done I'm you can talk to the coordinators at Interfaith but if not the coordinator at Interfaith is just gonna call AUA to see if you can do an elective there.
