Are there students transferring out of AUA? where? After or before step 1?

just wanted to get some information as to where AUA credits are taken vs. not.

lets put it this way... you shouldnt come here thinking you can transfer to somewhere better. if you wanna transfer somewhere worse cuz you fail... almost everywhere. the better carib schools will not accept ur credits. there r a few US schools that are VERY SLIM possibilities

i meant are there kids transferring out becuase of the clinical situation or the comp. shelf exam, now that the school has a limit on how many times you can take it.

From the students that I have talked to that have transferred out, their reasons were mostly financial.

i agree with iwanabmd...you can always transfer somewhere worse, but you still have to take the same step 1 regardless, and comp exam prepares you for that...because aua is actually up and coming and looking pretty good, i wouldn't think of transferring unless it's an absolute no choice type of scenario...financial reasons i could understand--but what other caribbean schools outside the big 4 have loans? ...AUA is more well known after those big 4. the clinical situation is what it is, but at least the green spots they have are pretty good.

Agreed. I guess financial reasons can be a good motivator. But I feel like the current clinical rotations situation is also pushing kids out. I dont know if its worth waiting 8-9 months to get rotations started then wait again in between. When we do 5th semester the site coordinators themselves tell us dont worry about greenbook or not, just take whats given to you. Finish residency where you can, its only a matter of few years then u can practice wherever you want.

so unless you "need" to be in a particular state for rotations or residency, does it really matter which "good" school vs. "bad" school you go to? Thats why i wondered where the AUA kids were transferring to, and for what reason.

    Thanx guys for responding

the reason your school matters is for when you apply to residency. The better your schools reputation is determines how the program director views the quality of your credentials

this is very true. i have been interviewing at a few programs that have maybe 1 or no IMGs in their program and the program directors have never heard of AUA. on the flip side, these programs no nothing about other Caribbean schools thus it doesn't matter whether you went to Ross or SGU.
