I'm not for sure, but rumor has it that program directors will not consider your core rotations valid if you do them at hospitals that your school doesn't have a contract with.
How can someone set up clinical rotations with hospitals that the school does not have a contract with such as pediatrics at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia or internal medicine at St. Barnabas Medical Center (these are just a couple of examples). Is it possible? What do you do to get started?

I wonder if it is possible even do elective rotations at hospitals that the school does not have a contract with. This would include only blue book or greenbook hospitals.
YEs, you can apply for away electives at hospitals not affiliated with AUA

i think the handbook has information on how to go about rotating in hospitals not connected to the schools.
Here is the information from the handbook
"Students are permitted to contact non-affiliated teaching hospitals to see if the hospital will allow the student to participate in a clerkship. The AUA will then decide if the hospital meets its standards and is willing to follow our clinical guidelines. If it does, the AUA will then provide the hospital with a letter of good standing"
