    Match 2011

    Advertisements

I'm starting my first core rotation this month (december) and I've been waiting since July 2009. Do I have a shot at matching for 2011 if I get all my rotations lined up back to back?
Its better if I know now so that I can take more time to study for step 2 and have a more relaxed schedule in case I dont have a chance for 2011.

Yes I waited almost 7 months until I was offered anything! Thanks to my lovely co-ordinator that I can't make the match!

maybe you were tardy with your paperwork or weren't proactive enough in securing a rotation?

i finished the same time as you but i had my documentation ready to go on july 15 and sent it out within 15 mins of getting my score report.

i finished my exam march 19th, got my results three weeks later which i emailed all my paperwork within the hour, received an email on April 22 that i was starting in Baltimore and I started May 4th

rahul is right, it's about having your paperwork ready to go when your score report comes in, being persistent and proactive but not naggy at the same time, along with good timing. i believe we started at a time when things were still fine, there were still spots available and the bottleneck had not begun.

I had all my paperwork ready to go the same week I took the exam.. which means I had everything ready to go 2 weeks before I even got my scores.. Now if thats not called being ready I dont know what is. I was very persistant about my rotations and the only answer I got from my co-ordinator was "YOU HAVE TO WAIT SINCE THERE IS NOTHING OPEN AT THIS POINT" I know for a fact that I was persistant and not pushy.
What do you say to a statement like that? lol
I guess not admiting one's mistake and lack of accountability seems to be the trend at AUA and that's the price I pay for going to an off shore med school.
And to all those people that got their rotations scheduled immediately.. good for you and you are lucky! Please note that is not the norm in regards to scheduling rotations for a lot students like me. Also, the situation was very different if you requested for rotations back in March-April. A lot has changed in regards to rotations since then my friends!
