serious lag time before clinical rotations

    Advertisements

hi...just wondering how long everyone else has had to wait, in terms of scheduling rotations after taking the Step 1 exam. I got confirmation that all my documents were received last Thursday Oct. 22 (5 days ago), I was told to wait to be contacted...and if that didn't happen "within 2-3 weeks to contact [her] to be updated on [my] status." Did it really take anyone else up to 2-3 weeks to even have clinical rotations discussed with you, not to mention additionally the supposed several months before you could actually begin them??

To be honest, it can go either way. I know a girl who has been waiting for 6 months for a clinical spot, others 2 months. So if you think you are going to finish step one, get your paper work done, and then jump right in, you are wrong!
If you are just starting rotations, all I can say is good luck!! you're gonna need it. Just keep calling and annoying the coordinator until you get set up and verified.

new coordinator responds promptly to e-mails...however, sadly, she doesn't really have to much news to reply with

did you (pradeepk) have any 'preferences' or did you put yourself down for the next available thing? I'm wondering if there really are several sites and just "picky students"...or if AUA just doesn't really have that many sites to begin with

It seems that AUA just doesn't have enough spots right now

hey, spideroll... i did not have any preferences.. i was told i will be notified when something becomes available and i am still waiting...

i actually contacted a doc i knew from 5th semester and he was willing to take me, but i was told we can't set up our own rotations in hospitals we have affiliations with... so i am back to just waiting...
