Off the top of my head...

Applications due Oct 31st.(Next application cycle in July)

No one with less than a 2.5 accepted. Only first pass Step scores accepted.

Transcripts needed from all schools attended. Two LOR from AUA faculty, one from someone who can attest to your community service. Also 6 units Spanish are needed (8?). You can take care of that via the CLEP, if you don't have it.

Oh and you speak to Jayme Sanchez in admissions, who is a sweetheart.

I'm actually down here, so if you got any further questions, let me know.

Wow.. 2 letters of recommendation from faculty eh? I didn't go to class much so that would really be a tough one.

Any idea how long the application process takes? so lets say I get everything in by oct 31st, do I have to sit out and wait till I find out wether or not I got accepted or can I start rotations while I'm waiting and then just transfer in?

How good is your spanish? I do have the 8 credits needed but my spanish is pretty rusty.

Also, I had a 2.8 going into 5th semester and gotta a C for 5th... how many credits was 5th semester... think its brings me down below a 2.5?

    Thanks for the responses

My Spanish is getting better by the day

My understanding is that 5th was 15 credits, and brought you down by .2 points. I'm appealing... (as in the grade, not a reflection of how I feel about myself...though my mom and my bf say I'm appealing )

If you get accepted, you'll be starting in the January class. (Which starts Jan 6th).

So is it better to do your rotations in Puerto Rico as a student at SJB or is it better to do your rotations in US hospitals as a caribbean med student? Also, to get credit for rotations at SJB do you have to pass the shelf exams for eevery rotation?

Rotations you've done at other schools won't count if you're transferring in. There's a rule somewhere that says if you are a graduate of a school you must have done at least 2 years there. Yes, they take 3rd year transfers.

Cooli: It is better to be a student at an LCME approved school. Absolutely. Then the whole green/blue/polka dotted book thing doesn't apply to you. Is it better to be a visiting student here (at an LCME approved, non ACGME approved school) than a Caribbean medical student at an ACGME approved school? Hell, even writing the question gives me a headache. I have no idear. AUA is of the opinion (their wording, not mine) that being a visiting student LCME student trumps a non-LCME, ACGME student.

    It's kind of a gamble.

Oh and Shelf exams are 40% of your grade here. But they're re-curved, so its not the 53/64 that we're used to, but numbers that make a little bit sense (people in my group have gotten 90's on shelfs...)
