help! Psych core at Jackson Park- Green?

    Advertisements

    hey guys,
I know that Psych core rotation at Jackson park in chicago is not on the website and doesn't have a residency program in Psych (I believe it only has one in Family) but how do I find out if it's AFFILIATED with a hospital that does have a psych residency (making it green?) I hope I am understanding this correctly. Ok any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated!!

From what I understood, the only green-book rotation at Jackson Park is Family Medicine. The other rotations offered @ JP are blue-book

Jackson Park is not green for anything but Family. That is the only thing they have residency for. The coordinators will say that it is "green under the family umbrella" but this completely false. While family is green everything else is "blue." This means that when you apply for residency you will not qualify for 12 of the states that we are eligible for, since 12 states require all cores to be green.

very true as you and Continental have said...i have no idea why they are still sending students there, especially those who don't want be there in the first place.

I mentioned this to the dean of clinical sciences and he todl me i am not to reject any rotation and that all are fine. i think he might not know what he is talking about but he basically told me i cant just deny a rotation. ugh. seems unfair if u ask me. now im really worried.

Glad to hear that you mentioned it to the DoCS --

But really not glad about his response!

(After getting essentially the same thing from my Clin Coordinator, I was planning to contact DoCS, but now i guess i really don't need to bother...)

I turned down a clinical rotation at JP and explained it was because it was blue. If I am paying 12K I don't see why I should accept a rotation that will limit my residency applications. For the names of the states that have specific requiremetns go to Sree's sticky.http://www.valuemd.com/american-univ...tml#post873361
